April 16, 1987, Chicago Tribune wires. Newspaper Clippings- Robin Yount's diving catch for the final out saved the first no-hitter of the season Wednesday as Juan Nieves and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Baltimore Orioles 7-0. It was the first no-hitter by a Brewer. Milwaukee is also 9-0, the third-best start in American League history.

Nieves is the youngest pitcher to throw a no-hitter since Burt Hooton of the Cubs beat the Phillies 4-0 April 16, 1972 at the age of 22 years, 2 months, 9 days. Nieves is 22 years, 3 months, 10 days. Juan Nieves, a left-hander, struck out seven and walked five. The Orioles hadn't been held hitless since Nolan Ryan did it for the California Angels June 1, 1975. Nieves (2-0), who was 11-12 as a rookie last season, needed three other good defensive plays. Left-fielder Jim Paciorek made a diving catch and third baseman Paul Molitor made two outstanding plays, one in the 4th and the other in the 5th.
