Chicago Area high school baseball is in full swing – Play Ball
May 1st has arrived and parents, kids and baseball fans are dreaming of playing baseball, and hoping the weather stays mild … a little wind is okay … no pouring rain though!
10 to 20 teams are on the verge of winning Divisional Titles … but please don’t count out any high school – especially our hometown favorites.

Reed- Custer Comets topped Beecher 2-0 on March 30, 2011 as Reed Custer pitcher Steve Rosenburg tossed a no hitter and teammate Nick Stewart lined 2 hits in three at bats with a RBI. Head Coach Jerry Cougill was all smiles after the game. Jerry Cougill is in his 32nd season and has compiled a sterling 663-353 w/l record. Beecher pitcher Chuck Karl pitched well but was the losing pitcher.
The Beecher Bobcats beat Willington High School 6-3 on April 6 2011. Chuck Karl posted the win by pitching 5 innings and allowing 2 earne runs. Teammates Jake Krabbe had 3 hits and scored 2 runs and Josh Harris lined 2 hits and collected 2 RBI.
Cary Grove Boys High School baseball team used power to defeat Crystal Lake Central High 12-3 on April 6 2011. Michael Vilardo and Alex Posey each hit 2 homers. Mike Vilardo had 3 RBI and Alex Posey 4 RBIs in an old-fashioned slugfest. Cary Grove High School baseball team improved to 14-7 for 2011 and 11-4 in league play.
Gordon Tech High School boys varsity baseball team won as Dakota Pisarek pitched a complete game no hitter to defeat Bishop McNamara. Fleet-footed freshman Sam Colon reached base 4 times and scored 2 runs for the winning Gordon Tech. Pitcher Dakota Pisarek struck out 10 during the May 3rd game.
Announcement – Aurora Christian High School has two senior baseball players signed to play baseball in colleges. Brent Minta will attend Taylor University and Austin Penn will attend Central Christian.
Aurora Christian defeated Wheaton Academy 4-0 as pitcher Bobby Kuntzendorfer struck out 17 opponents on May 2. By winning Aurora improved its 2011 season record to 17-4.
Jay Thompson, Harrisburg Bulldogs baseball coach recorded his 600th career victory on April 20 2011 as Harrisburg beat Anna-Jonesboro 10-4. Jay Thompson has been the Harrisburg coach since 1982. Under his guidance, Harrisburg won the Class AA Title in 1989 and the Class A in 2004.
