Sept 30, 1962- Willie Mays hit a eight inning home run in the final game of the regular season to lead the San Francisco Giants to a 2-1 win over the Houston Colt.45.

Mays' game-winning blast came off losing pitcher Dick Farrell.

The Giants and the Dodgers ended the season in a tie for 1st place, a three-game payoff will determine the pennant winner. Both teams end the regular season at 111-61. Playoff Game 3 - The San Francisco Giants won the NL pennant by beating the L. A. Dodgers 6-4. The Giants rallied to score 4 runs in the 8th inning of the final game. Don Larsen, in relief of Juan Marichal picked up the win.
