Eddie Murray, 1st. Baseman; Baltimore Orioles 1970's. Rookie
of the Year in 1977, Super Star Hitter, Eddie Murray blasted
29 doubles, 27 Homers, had 88 RBI's, slg. pct. .470, and batted
.283. In his first 10 years in the big leagues, Eddie hit
over .280 every season and five (5) times he hit over .300.
The
nations' baseball fans watched this outstanding hitter apply
his hitting skills as he played in the Orioles pennant drives
and in the world series games. Murray's booming bat won many
important games for the Orioles during the 1970's. He was
the "Main Man" among Baltimore fans. In 1978,
he smashed 27 homers, 95 RBI's, 293 total bases and had a
.480 slugging pct. Always a threat to go long; again in 1979;
he slugged 25 home runs with 99 RBI's and a slugging ave of
.475.
Eddie Murray, throughout his long career with the Baltimore
Orioles, was one of the games' great all-around players. We
nod and smile at Mr. Murray's great performances on the baseball
diamond. You were one of the best.
