"Tuffy" Rhodes - Chicago Cubs
Tuffy hit three home runs on Opening
Day in 1994 for the Chicago Cubs. Acquired in the off
season from the KC Royals, Tuffy had only played in less than
100 games in the major leagues before the Cubs gave him the
nod.
Rhodes, an Ohio native and a former Chicago
Cub, tied the Japan pro baseball single-season home run record
of 55 this year, formerly achieved by Sadaharu Oh of the Yomiuri
Giants in 1964.
Rhodes has played in Japan since
1996 after spending a few years in the major leagues.
