Jose Arcia Born in Havana, Cuba Jose Arcia at age 19 played in the minors back in 1962. He started as a pitcher for Modesota and Moultrie-Thomasville and posted a 4-5 win/loss record. After working his way up the minor league ladder, he was shifted to the shortstop position with Raleigh of the Carolina League in 1965 and hit .202 in 134 games. In 1966 he hit .272 at Cedar Rapids of the Midwest League. In 1967 Jose Arcia batted .219 at Arkansas and thye bnext season joined the Chicago Cubs, playing as an utility infielder and outfielder. In 1969 he was selected by the San Diego Padres in the National League expansion draft, and played with them two seasons. |
