Boston Braves Betts staged a real come back to the big leagues in 1932 after being sold by the Phillies to the minors 6 years before. He pitched 5 years for the Phillies before being released. The Braves bought Betts from the St Paul Club in the American Association, where he starred in the box for 5 years. In his last year with St. Paul, which was 1931, he won 22 and lost 13 games. Last year pitching for Houston, Huck Betts finished 4th, winning 11 games and was beaten a like number of times. He is a right-handed pitcher, 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He was born in Millsboro, Del., in 1898, and attended the university of Delaware before entering professional baseball. |
