Philadelphia Athletics One of the most promising youngsters on the Philadelphia Athletics was Ed Coleman. He was a left-handed batter, but threw right-handed, 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds. He was secured by the Athletics from the Portland Club of the Pacific Coast League in 1931, after slugging .358 in 187 games. He led the Pacific Coast League in driving in runs that season.
