Jim Merritt; Cincinnati Reds 1969-1971; Pitcher Righthanded- Jim Merritt was the only member of the pennant winning 1970 'Big Red Machine' to win 20 games. Merritt was 20-12 with an ERA of 4.08. In the NLCS vs. the Pirates, he pitched the Reds to a 3-1 win, with a save from Don Gullett. Bothered by a sore shoulder, Merritt was the losing pitcher in the fifth and final game in the World Series vs. the Orioles. Merritt gave up four runs and lasted only 1 2/3 innings.
