Boston Braves 'Edward Arthur Brandt is a State of Washington boy, who came out of the 1933 season with the reputation of having been one of the leading batters of the National League. And Brandt is a pitcher, who started in his home state on the Seattle team in 1923. Five years later the Boston Braves signed him and he quickly became one of their ace pitchers, a southpaw at that, for he both throws and bats lefthanded. 'Ed Brandt is a six-footer and weighs around 180 pounds. He was born in Spokane, Wash., and he is fond of hunting, spending much of the winter time with his gun. His best year is still considered 1931 when, out of 29 games pitched, he won 18 and lost 11. Last year he won 18 but lost 14.' Baseball Historian |
