Chris Chambliss was voted the American League Rookie of the Year, by hitting a solid .275 with 33 extra base hits for Cleveland in 1971. A solid defensive first baseman, he lined over 2,000 career-hits. He was traded to the New York Yankees in early-'74 and strung together 3 straight 90 RBIs seasons - 1976-78. He was the hitting star in the 1976 Championship Series, when after already collecting 10 hits and 7 RBIs in the series, he led off the bottom of the 9th inning with a game-winning homer off Royals reliever ace Mark Littell, giving the Yankees its first pennant in 12 years. And, Chambliss also was a key-force in the Yankees winning the next two straight World Championships - 1977-1978. Traded to the Atlanta in 1980, his clutch-hitting helped the Braves win the NL West in 1982. After retiring he became a coach for the Yankees and Cardinals...
