Mickey Cochrane was an outstanding catcher, ranking in the top throughout his career. Most Valuable Player in 1928 and 1934, the first time while catching for the Philadelphia Athletics, 1928, and then for the Detroit Tigers in 1934.
Lifetime batting average; .320. It would be difficult to pick any catcher in this century with better defensive skills. A member of the Hall of Fame Mickey Cochrane batted .357 in 1930 and .349 in 1931.
