First Baseman - Pinch-hitter; Cleveland Indians 1959; Cincinnati Reds 1960-1967 Gordy Coleman had a memorable big league debut with Cleveland in 1959... in only six games, he lined 8-hits in 15 at bats for a torrid .533 batting mark, including a triple and 5 runs scored. He was traded to Cincinnati the following season and hit .271, with 10 Ds, 6 Hr, 32 RBIs in 66 games. In 1961, the slugging first baseman hit .287 in 150 games, smashed 27 doubles and belted 26 home runs with 87 RBIs to help the Reds win the National League pennant. In that year's World Series, Coleman collected 5-hits in 20 trips to the plate, scored twice and also drove in a pair of runs... none-the-less the Reds lost in five games to New York. Rated one of the league's better fielders, he hit a career-best .302 in 108 games in 1965, and hit 18 doubles, 14 home runs, with 57 RBIs.
