From 1950 Bowman Baseball Card #194 – Words on back of Card as follows Born: Newport PA on August 29 1919 Hit .234 in 100 games in 1949. Drove in 40 runs. Had a Fielding average of .974. Began in organized baseball with Harrisburg, Inter-State League, 1940. Remained there the following year. Then came 4 seasons in the service. Was Pirate shortstop in ’46 and ’47. Traded to Dodgers during December 1947.
