He posted a splendid 14-6 record plus 10 saves, with a miserly 1.72 earned run average, yielded just 105 hits in 157 innings, striking out 166 batters, just 45 walks and had a resounding .191 opponents batting average. And, tied a Toronto Blue Jay record with 69 appearances. In 1987 the 6 ft 3 inches, 200 pound right-hander went 10-6 with 4 saves in a AL leading 89 games, which tied a American League record for relief appearances. Prior to 1988 he was sold to Atlanta and was 5-5, then signed as a free agent with the Angels in 1989, a 2-5 record plus 13 saves. All together Mark Eichhorn pitched in 563 games, striking out 640 batters in 885.2 innings. |
