Cito Gaston, Outfielder, 1975 TOPPS CARD Although later a well-regarded MLB coach and manager, early-on-in-his career, the 6-ft, 3-inch Clarence 'Cito' Gaston was one of the NL leading outfielders. In 1970, in his second full season, Gaston made the All-Star Game, he cranked out career-highs with 16 doubles, 9 triples and 29 homers, scored 92 runs and had 93 RBIs. However, although he never again came close to those numbers he was a valuable team player wherever he played. Noted for his powerful, accurate throwing arm, he was among the leaders in assists in most years. |
