Roy Gleason A United States wartime hero, Roy Gleason was drafted and badly wounded by mortar during the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart in 1968. Roy Gleason was born in Melrose Park Illinois on April 9 1943. He played several years in the minors before playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1963. Used mainly as a pinch runner, he played in 8 games and lined a double in his only at bat. |
