Born in Seymour, Illinois on 3/4/1888, Edward 'Jeff' Pfeffer was a big-name mound star with the Brooklyn Dodgers during the 1910s - the last decade of the dead ball era. He posted win/loss records of 23-12, 19-14, 25-11 from 1914 thru 1916. His 25 wins, an .192 ERA in 1916 helped the Robbins/Dodgers win the NL pennant, and, in a losing cause to the Boston Red Sox in five games in the World Series, Pfeffer started two games, plus one relief appearance, and went 0-1 W/L. Jeff Pfeffer was 16-9, 3.01 ERA for the 1920 Brooklyn Robbins NL pennant winning team. A mound workhorse with pin-point control, he worked over 250 innings in seven seasons, won twenty games twice, won 19 twice and won at least 10 games in eight different seasons, and pitched 28 career shutouts while posting a resounding-low career 2.77 ERA.
