Born in New York City on February 9, 1899, George Toporcer played his entire 8-year major league career with the St. Louis Cardinals, 1921-1928. A left-handed slap-hitter he rarely struck out, just 93 strikeouts in 1566 at bats. He compiled a solid .946 career fielding average while playing 249 games at shortstop, 105 at second base, 95 at third base, 3 at first and one game in the outfield.
