Question 13- Who Was I?

What's my Name?
I had a lifetime batting of only .262 and hold the major league record for striking out the most career times; 2,597.  But I was a major star and did a lot of damage with my bat. I pounded opposing pitchers with home runs; in fact I hit 563 of them and led my league in HR's in 1973, 75, 80 and 1983.  I was considered aloof and arrogant but in 21 seasons, I played on 6 pennant winners and 5 World Champions. Thanks to me, the Oakland A's won three straight World Crowns.  As a Yankee slugger in the 1977 World Series I set the record by belting 5 HR's in a six game series, including 3 in one game.  "I was the straw that stirred the drink".  Oh Yes!  My month is coming soon - Mr. October
