'Jerome Dean made the White Sox dizzy trying to bat against him several years ago and so they dubbed him 'Dizzy'. He's been making then dizzy ever since. In 1933 he won the title of having pitched in the most games of any pitcher. In 1932 he led the National League in strikeouts and pitched the most innings. Jerome Dean was born in Holdenville, Okla., in 1911. He is 6 feet, 3 3/4 inches tall and weighs 189 pounds. He began his professional baseball in 1930 in St. Joseph, Mo., and after playing in Houston, Texas, came to the Cardinals in 1932. He bats and throws right-handed. Baseball HIstory |
