JOHNNY OATES 1975 BASEBALL CARD Johnny Oates A standout defensive catcher during his major league tenure Johnny Oates was an added asset because he was a left-handed hitter. In the minors he was chosen as an All-Star for 1967 Florida State League. He broke in the majors with the Baltimore Orioles and had a stellar rookie season in 1972, hitting .261 in 85 games, then was traded to the Atlanta Braves. He played over 90 games the next three seasons, including 1975 when he batted a career-high .286 with the Phillies. |
