Claude Osteen chalked up 196 wins and pitched 40 lifetime shutouts in his' big league career. He was a star high school pitcher and signed for a large bonus with the Cincinnati Reds. Claude Osteen made his MLB debut for the Reds on July 7, 1957 at the age 17. After playing four years mostly in the minor leagues and for the Reds he was traded to Washington in 1962 and in 1964 went 15-13, 3.33 ERA. The Senators traded Claude Osteen in 1965 to the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his 9 seasons with the Dodgers, he won 15 games seven times, 20 games twice and was selected for three All-Star games.
