In 1992 the 17-year old left-hander Karim Garcia from Ciudad Obregon Mexico signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers as a free agent, then played in the minors where he hit a total of 60 homers in about 2 ½ seasons until September 1995 when he was called up to the majors. He injured his shoulder and played only 29 games in LA, the rest in the minors, until he was traded to Arizona in 1998. Karim Garcia was given a chance with the Diamond Backs and hit 10 doubles, 8 triples and 9 homers in 113 games. However after a solid season with Detroit in 1999 he was traded to Baltimore. Altogether Karim Garcia played for 8 teams in his 10-year major league career. Played in 2007 spring training with Phillies and released at end of March. Baseball Historian 1998 TOPPS BB Card |
