1975 Topps Card Doug Rader, nicknamed 'the Red Rooster,' was a fans favorite during his nine seasons with the Houston Astros, 1967 thru 1975. He quickly captured the attention of baseball fans as a rookie by batting a robust .333 in 162 at bats in '67. He won Gold Gloves five straight seasons, 1970-74. Three years with Houston he lined over 20 homers and rang up over 80 RBIs 4-times, with a high of 90 in 1972. However the Astros were looking to improve with the addition of the two young pitchers. Doug Rader was 32-years old at the time of the trade and he played just two more years in MLB. |
