Ralph Young A standout defensive second baseman, Ralph Young had 8 very fine seasons in the majors, seven of them with the Detroit Tigers from 1915-1921. A contact hitter, although he hit .247 in his career Ralph Young compiled a very solid .339 career on-base-pct. He drew over twice as many walks as strikeouts thru his career, 495 walks and just 235 strikeouts. In 1920 he batted .291, walked 85 times and struck out just 30 times in 150 at bats. |
